P – Automatic mode – auto shutter speed and apature – used for taken photos that you don’t have time to change the settings for.

Tv – Shutter speed priority – moving subjects look still or capture motion blurring

Av – apature priority – photos with a shallow depth of field.

M – manual – manual shutter speed and apature

Sports – fast events (uses a fast shutter speed)

Macro – close up photography

Landscape – sharp photos of landscapes.

Portrait – background blurred subject in focus
